The Board has talked about the need for a Newsletter to better communicate with the residents on the issues being dealt with by the Board, general information and safety concerns. Well here it is, the first Newsletter. This gives the Board an opportunity to communicate with the unit holders, the unit holders opportunity to communicate with the Board and the unit holders to communicate with one other. Should you have any written input you feel would be of interest or added value to the Newsletter and 7st Lofts, please submit it for inclusion in subsequent newsletters. Details of how and who to submit your input are included elsewhere in this Newsletter.
We have faced numerous issues with the start up of the Condo Association. Take over from the Developer, deficiencies, resident safety, parking and garbage to mention a few. The Board has addressed all of these issues. They are not all necessarily resolved, but are a work in progress. Other issues will no doubt arise, but the Board has shown positive action with everything it has faced to date so there is no doubt about the future.
One of the biggest issues is the safety and security issue. As you know, there have been a number of break-ins into the cars in the parkade. We have, at the advice of experts, taken a number of measures to curb this problem. The measures taken have improved the situation, however, we still rely on all the residents to be vigilant and report any unusual activity. We can have all that technology can offer, however we must still rely on one another.
It is my view that combining Phases 1and 2 of 7th Street Lofts into one condo association would be a benefit. Much of the work of each of the Boards is duplicated. The same Management Company serves both current associations. The entry and elevator are common to both buildings. Numerous advantages would arise out of combining the associations. However, there are details to be worked out to make this happening a reality. The Board requests feedback from all unit holders to see if this course of action should be pursued. Please, think about this, discuss it with your neighbors and your the Board Member nearest you.
I commend the Board for all their work in the first and most difficult year in the life of a Condo Association. I am confident the Board is going in the right direction. Your feedback is always welcome. At the next AGM please consider becoming a Board Member to help continue the good work that the Board has done over the past year.
